Referral Coordinator, Therapy

The referral coordinator is responsible for referral operations at assigned clinics, establishing, and coordinating referral functions with all other departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
1) Follows current and standardized referral policies and workflows.
2) Prioritizes referrals by their urgency and addresses them in a timely manner.
3) Ensures complete demographic, insurance information and appropriate/pertaining clinical information is sent to referred specialists.
4) Presents necessary medical information such as, history, diagnosis and prognosis to insurance companies if deemed necessary to prove medical necessity of services.
5) Reviews details and expectations about the referral with both ordering providers and patients.
Requests new referrals to be ordered when applicable.
6) Develops and implements systems as required by EMR functionality and/or regulatory agencies.
7) Promotes knowledge and utilization of therapy services by maintaining liaison with physicians; helps promote new programs and related services; responding to requests and identifying emerging issues.
8) Identifies and utilizes community resources; establishes relationships with servicing providers and personnel.
9) Enhances therapy reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
10) Point of contact for patients and specialists for any questions or rising concerns.
Assist in problem solving potential issues related to their referral due to language or social barriers.
If unable to help, assist in finding the right point of contact for resolution.

Education and
Experience:
o High School education or equivalento 3 or more years working in medical reception a plusPerformance Requirements:
Knowledge:
1.
Knowledge of service lines of therapy.
2.
Knowledge of medical insurance Skills:
1.
Skill in accurately evaluating patient referral data in person or via phone and providing appropriate assistance to schedule therapy appointment.
Abilities:
1.
Ability to interpret correctly patients' referrals to all types of therapy treatment.
3.
Ability to follow flow chart regarding scheduling therapy appointments determine and to instruct others in determining the proper length and intensity of individual treatments.
4.
Ability to maintain reports regarding patient referral patterns.
5.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physical therapy professional employees, and patients.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
