Nurse Manager - OR RN Manager (Boulder Surgery Center)

Boulder Surgery Center is seeking a highly qualified Operating Room RN Manager to run our outpatient surgery suites, specializing in Orthopedic surgeries, including total joint replacement surgery.

The ideal candidate will promote and maintain strict compliance to O.

/surgery safety practices and surgery center regulatory requirements.
Boulder Surgery Center is an orthopedic specialty Surgery Center.
FLSA - Exempt Reports to CEO / Administrator Supervises - OR RN Staff, Surgical Technologists, Sterile Processing Technicians Estimated 50% assuming direct patient care assignment.
Estimated 50% managerial related activities.
Consistently prepares monthly staff schedule in accordance with staffing plan, scope of services, new processes or procedures, and based on changing needs of the department.
Determines daily assignments based on skill set & demonstrated competencies of available staff.
Assignments of employees are made for training or advancing professional development.
Determines allocation of human resources according to caseload, special assignments or projects, concurrent indirect patient care activities, providing training or education and budgetary constraints.
Evaluates staff level of competency and learning needs based on changing conditions of medical technology, new processes, new procedures or desired professional advancement.
Intervenes as necessary and with prompt attention to conduct observed of direct reports which is unbecoming of a professional in the workplace.

Monitors and completes compliance of concurrent activities as found on the Concurrent Activity List:
Quality control checks, surveillance, out dates, occurrences, month end reports etc.
Conducts necessary follow up with corrective action plan for staff members who are not meeting performance expectations.
Conducts annual performance appraisals of staff members in timely manner.
Reviews employee files for completeness of content, expiration dates of required documents and develops corrective action plan.
Determines competency assessment of high risk, problem prone or new processes and plans training day activities.
Identifies opportunities for Performance Improvement studies and directs corrective action plan.
Reviews and Revises facility policies & procedures annually, reflecting current practice standards.
Possesses commitment to develop mutually supported professional relationships with physicians, colleagues, direct reports and company representatives.
Completes payroll corrections electronically and written for employee file Facilitates smooth and efficient running of the surgery schedule.
Coordinates personnel, equipment, and supply resources.
Communicates directly with physicians/surgeons to verify requests for specialty instrument, supply or equipment needs.
Coordinates with anesthesia providers for case coverage & incidental changes.
Meets or exceeds established O.
R.
room turnover time standards.
Oversees sterile processing practices and infection prevention practices within the surgical suites and in sterile processing.
Determines staffing needs by recruitment, interviewing and hiring process of identified staff positions.
Conducts team meetings as necessary, recording summary of discussion and permanent filing.
Oversees orientation of new hires, by assigning staff member to serve as preceptor and conducts follow up with new hire and preceptor for progress and learning needs.
Collaborates with other management team members in meeting the mission & goals of the organization.
Participant on the Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement Committee.
Manage grievances (patient, surgeon, staff) as appropriate for the condition, forwarding to higher authority as necessary.

Requirements/Preferences Registered Nurse with Operating Room experience required.
Additional scrub experience is preferred.
Previous supervisor or middle management experience required.
Preferred accomplishments include experience in outpatient orthopedic surgery.
Must possess a strong knowledge base of ASC regulatory requirements, either AAAHC or TJC.
Possess effective communication skills and have an ability to work compatibly with all physicians and staff.
Possess strong organizational skills and a clear understanding of the importance of efficiency and cost effectiveness in an outpatient surgery center.
Must have an aptitude for understanding, operating, and troubleshooting machines and equipment.
Must possess the knowledge and clinical skills to perform the job duties of a surgical nurse.
Knowledge of aseptic technique, advanced medical technology, sophisticated medical equipment and mechanical applications is required.
Must possess a thorough knowledge of all procedures performed in the Surgery Center and be able to circulate all procedures.
Possess abilities for independent problem solving and demonstrate rational and confidence in decisions rendered.
Must be able to make quick assessments of patients and be able to handle emergency situations appropriately and or while directing others.
Ability to direct activities of others with enforcement as necessary.
